How to Measure Your Ring Size


Measuring the Diameter of an Existing Ring:

1. Choose a ring that fits comfortably on the finger you want to size.

2. Lay the ring on top of a tape measure or ruler and measure the widest point of the ring, in millimeters, from each inner edge. 

3. This measurement gives you the ring diameter. Use the ring size chart (bottom of the page) to determine your size by matching it to your ring diameter.

 

Measuring the Circumference of Your Finger:

1. Wrap a strip of paper no wider than 5mm around the finger you wish to size. Wrap it snug, but not so tight that you can't pull it over your knuckle. I would not recommend using string as it stretches slightly.

2. Mark the point where the paper overlaps or meets its starting point.

3. Lay the paper strip flat and measure its length, in millimeters, using a ruler.

4. This measurement gives you the ring circumferance. Use the ring size chart (bottom of the page) to determine your size by matching it to your ring circumferance.

Tips for Accuracy:

1. Measure more than once: It's a good idea to measure your finger two or three times to ensure consistency and accuracy

2. Check Temperature: Cold weather can cause your fingers to shrink, while warm weather can make them expand. Consider taking your measurement at a comfortable room temperature.

3. Check Fit: Ideally, you should be able to slide the ring over your knuckle without too much force, but it shouldn't be loose enough to fall off.

4. Use a Known Ring for Comparison (Optional): If you have a ring that fits you well, you can compare its inner diameter to the length of your paper strip to double-check your measurement.

 

Half sizes are half-a-size larger than their size letter. For example, A 1/2 is larger than A. If you are unsure about your ring size, feel free to email your circumference measurement to me (ibexjewellery@gmail.com), and I will let you know if it's a whole or half size.
